Medial Dissection Following Balloon Angioplasty in Peripheral Pulmonary Artery Stenosis Harbouring Homozygous RNF213 p.Arg4810Lys Variant
A subset of peripheral pulmonary artery stenosis (PPS) is associated with ring finger protein 213 (RNF213) p.Arg4810Lys variant and may show intimal/medial hyperplasia with abnormal waving of the internal elastic lamina. Although stent deployment and balloon angioplasty are valuable treatment options for PPS, the specific impact of endovascular treatment on pulmonary vascular morphology remains unclear. In this case report, we present the pathologic findings after endovascular therapy for PPS in a patient harbouring a homozygous RNF213 p.Arg4810Lys variant.
