RELAÇÃO DA TERAPIA MEDICAMENTOSA COM OS EFEITOS ADVERSOS NA CAVIDADE BUCAL: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA.

OBJECTIVES: To list the main oral manifestations associated with the adverse effects of drugs commonly prescribed in the treatment of systemic conditions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 24 articles accessed through the Pubmed database published between 2014-2024, in English, Spanish and Portuguese, were evaluated after searching with the keywords “Drug Therapy” AND “Drug-Related Side Effects and Adverse Reactions” AND “Oral Manifestations”. RESULTS: The results of this study, focusing on medications and their corresponding oral manifestations of adverse reactions, were summarized in Table 1, highlighting the classes, medications and specific manifestations. DISCUSSION: The main oral changes related to adverse drug effects described in the literature are mucosal ulceration, hyposalivation, taste disorders, gingival hyperplasia, pigmentation of mucous membranes and teeth, lichenoid and pemphigoid reactions, gingival bleeding, erythema multiforme, burning, movement disorders , bruxism and osteonecrosis. CONCLUSION: In view of this analysis, it is emphasized that the dental surgeon must have the most in-depth knowledge about the medications used in systemic conditions and the direct relationship with oral manifestations.
