Study on Destination Selection Attributes and Tourism Intentions of Active Seniors in China -Focusing on SNS Characteristics and Lifestyle-
This study examined the influence of lifestyle and SNS characteristics on tourist destination choice attributes and tourism intention through path analysis among active seniors with tourism experience in China. The study found that “safety and convenience,” “cultural experience,” and “local hospitality” are important factors in active seniors tourist destination choice, with “local hospitality” being the most important factor. This suggests that safety-seeking active seniors tend to emphasize hospitality in tourist destinations. In addition, the “informativeness” of social media played an important role in the tourist destination selection process, while “safety and convenience” and “infrastructure” had the greatest impact on the formation of tourism intentions. The leisure and health-oriented lifestyles indicate that seniors are more active in tourism activities, and the personalization characteristic of SNS mediated the relationship between local hospitality and tourism intention. These findings highlight the importance of seniors lifestyles and SNS platforms in tourism destination development and management, and suggest that industry players should consider them when developing customized services.
