A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme On Knowledge of Mothers of Infants Regarding Optional Vaccines in Anganwadi Rural Community of Indore (M.P.)

Introduction: Immunization is one of the important public health measures to prevent diseases. It is due to the virtues of efficient immunization that a large number of killer diseases have been tamed to quite an extent.Immunization is the process whereby a child is made immune or resistant to an infectious disease, typically by the administration of a vaccine.A vaccine stimulates the body's own immune system to protect the person against subsequent infection or disease.Materials and Methods: An evaluative research approach was accomplished, for the present study.preexperimental design was used for this study.Target population-Mothers of Infants & Accessible Population-Mothers of infants in rural communities under PHC Kample Indore(MP).Purposive sampling technique with 40 mothers of infant were selected.Setting of the study were Selected anganwadi rural community, PHC Kample Indore(MP).Results: The statistical paired "t" test of 12.88 reflected significance in the enhancement of knowledge score for all the selected aspects at P<0.05.Hence the research hypothesis H1 is accepted. So there will be significant difference in the knowledge scores regarding optional vaccines between pretest and post-test among mothers of infants at 0.05 level. Conclusions: Overall observation showed that the Planned Teaching Programme on Optional Vaccines was effective in enhancement of knowledge score of the mothers of infant.
