PREVALÊNCIA DO ESTILO DE VIDA ATIVO COMO INDICADOR NA REDUÇÃO DOS SINTOMAS DEPRESSIVOS EM ADOLESCENTES: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA
Introduction: Depression is a disorder that occurs with several changes in the body, the symptoms manifest themselves in the cognitive, emotional and physical areas that directly and negatively compromise the social, personal and professional life of the people affected by it. Objective: To verify the prevalence of active lifestyle as an indicator of the reduction of depressive symptoms in adolescents. Method: This is an integrative literature review, carried out through investigations in the following databases: Virtual Health Library (VHL), Pubmed and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), using the following descriptors: depression in adolescents, depression and physical exercise, depression and physical activity, depression and physical activity in adolescents and depression, physical exercise and adolescents. Results: Adolescents who maintain an active lifestyle manifested reduced rates of depressive symptoms, however, some factors associated with depression were identified in this group, such as: social, emotional and hormonal factors due to the symptoms of puberty, in view of the psychological insecurity, doubts, uncertainties and social influences imposed in this period of life. Considerations: Maintaining the practice of exercising regularly in a planned and structured way has manifested positive effects when it comes to mental health. Awareness for this group is necessary, since the levels of depression have become prevalent, due to the different demands to which this group is submitted. Further research on this theme is suggested, comparing the level of physical activity in different age groups, so that the limits of this disorder can be understood.
