Bioassays, characterization and electronic transitions studies of organtin(IV) dithiocarbamates of p-Bromo-N methylbenzylamine dithiocarbamates
Analogs of carbamates are called dithiocarbamtes in which both oxygen atoms of carbamates are replaced by Sulfur atoms. For the preparation of ligand para substituted N-methylbenzylamine is reacted with Carbon Disulphide (CS2) in the presence of base sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The ligand was reacted with tin salts in 2:1 and 1:1 to obtain Di- and Tri-organotin (IV) complexes. Infrared, Ultraviolet–visible, and Proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic methods were used to characterize the synthesized compounds. In all chelated dithiocarbamates, a new bond appeared due to the formation of a bond between Sulfur and the tin atom absent in the ligand. Furthermore, bioassay activities were assessed using antifungal, antibacterial, and Hela cell line (cervical cancer). The Synthesized compounds showed moderate antibacterial activity against different bacterial strains while all complexes exhibited activity against fungal and anticancer activity.
