Boas práticas de governança pública e resultados das eleições para governador do Ceará de 2006 a 2018

The debate about democracy in Brazil brings to light the need to analyze the effects of governance results in the public sector on election results. This research was carried out with the general objective of analyzing governance practices through the main budgetary expenses, specifically, health, education, public security and social assistance in the governments of the state of Ceará in light of the results of the elections for governor in the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 elections. To this end, quantitative, explanatory and documentary research were chosen as methods. The result of the statistical analysis demonstrated that there is no correlation between expenditure on health, education and public security functions and the electoral results analyzed. It is concluded, therefore, that governance practices, analyzed from the perspective of these specific budgetary expenditures carried out in the last year of office, do not guarantee the ruler his re-election or the ability to elect his successor, even if he is on the verge of suffrage.
