THE ROLE OF TRANSPORT IN TACKLING SOCIAL EXCLUSION
The paper presents the transport needs of people exposed to social exclusion and shows examples of transport services, suitable to be implicated in various situations. The sources of social exclusion are often linked to the access to institutions and places, offering jobs, education or social care. The lack of access to transport or its cost can be thereby important barri-ers, limiting the effectiveness of the policy, tackling social exclusion. A valuable example of inspiration can be found in the transportation solutions appreciated by significant global organizations, effectively applied in various cities, such as Curitiba, Brazil.
