<scp>APEC</scp> News 2024 November: 23rd and 24th Scientific Congresses in Bangladesh and Korea

The 23rd Scientific Congress of the Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation (APEC) will be held in Dhaka at The InterContinental Dhaka Bangladesh. The dates have been changed from February to 26–28 September 2025 (Figure 1). Meanwhile, the 24th APEC Scientific Congress will be held from March 25 to 28, 2027, at BEXCO, Busan, South Korea. The Korean Academy of Endodontics (KAE) held its first local organizing committee (LOC) meeting on July 20, 2024 (see the photo below; Figure 2) and elected Prof. Hyeon-Cheol Henry Kim (Pusan National University), the APEC Immediate-Past President, as the Chair of LOC and Prof. Kyung-San Min (Jeonbuk National University) as the Secretary-General. In addition, each committee chair and members were appointed and ideas on academic and social programs and promotional events were shared. At the online meeting on August 13, 2024 (the 2nd LOC meeting), the conference's main theme (Figure 3), “New Wave in Endodontics,” and homepage were decided to be www.apec2027busan.com. For financial management, a separate corporation (2027 APEC Organizing Committee) was established. The prospectus for sponsorship was reviewed and finalized during the 3rd and 4th meetings (held online on September 27 and October 17). For the promotional activities, press releases were distributed to Korean dental magazines to promote the hosting of APEC2027 to the local dental society. APEC has been held in Seoul, Korea four times (1989, 1997, 2002, and 2013). The World Endodontic Congress (WEC) of International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) held in Seoul in October 2018 was evaluated as one of the most successful events in the IFEA. Based on these experiences, the LOC will do the best to host the APEC 2027 Busan meeting successfully and create an opportunity to upgrade the endodontics to the next level.
