IMPACTOS DA BIOMETRIA FACIAL NA POLÍTICA DE SEGURANÇA PÚBLICA

This study investigates the application in Brazil of the video surveillance model with facial biometrics, similar to that adopted by China, emphasizing its integration with smart city technologies such as IoT and big data. Using a deductive method, it examines the possible consequences of misidentifications by public security agencies using this technology and AI. The data protection laws of Brazil, USA, UK, and EU were analyzed to compare their strengths and weaknesses. The qualitative study evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of these laws and the implementation of tools by the Chinese government, aiming for replication by the Federal University of Alagoas (Ufal) for a monitoring system in Maceió. The proposed model includes the use of data from the academic community of Ufal and the citizens of Maceió through facial biometrics and AI. The contribution emphasizes the need for cooperation among stakeholders to implement the guidelines of the Chinese model, facing significant challenges.
