A EFICÁCIA DO ULTRASSOM TERAPÊUTICO E LASERTERAPIA PARA TRATAMENTO DO INGURGITAMENTO MAMÁRIO: REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
Introduction: Breastfeeding is essential, but can be difficult due to breast engorgement (excessive accumulation of milk). Prolactin stimulates milk production, oxytocin facilitates ejection. The baby’s frequent sucking, balanced diet, and good hydration increase milk production. Ultrasound and laser therapy are techniques that help with lactation, improving circulation and healing. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic ultrasound and laser therapy during the lactation period, through a literature review. Materials and methods: The methodology is a literature review, including articles that investigated the use of physiotherapeutic ultrasound and laser therapy, published between 2015 and 2023. Duplicate articles, those unavailable in full, reviews and articles in languages other than those selected were discarded. The investigation was carried out in the SCIELO, PubMed and LILACS databases, in Portuguese and English versions. Results: Among the 93 articles identified, 10 were chosen based on the inclusion criteria, encompassing a total of 2.503 women. All studies indicated positive and effective results in the treatment of breast engorgement. Conclusion: Therapeutic ultrasound and laser therapy are promising alternatives for reducing pain and increasing milk production. Despite the positive results. More research is needed to confirm these findings and develop reliable protocols.
