Factors Affecting The Development of Children 0-6 Living With Their Mothers in Penal Institutions and Social Work Intervention

The concept of crime and criminality emerges as a social issue that encompasses everyone, regardless of race, language, religion, age, etc., with humans at its center. The necessity to adhere to certain rules has emerged with individuals living together. In cases where these rules are not adhered to by individuals, deterrent penalties supported by laws have emerged. With the increasing crime rate worldwide, pregnant or parenting women may also commit criminal acts. In this case, children may stay in prison with their mothers. Although the child's best interests are taken into account, since the first six years of a child's development are crucial, prison conditions are not suitable for the child. The primary factors affecting children’s development include environmental conditions, the mother-child relationship, and the lack of social support. The study focuses on the development process and social service intervention of children who have to live with their mothers in correctional facilities.
