Downsampling of measurement data for power electronic systems preserving information on power losses in the switching devices
Losses in powerelectronic devices are often estimated using loss models fed by measurement data of electrical signals. Taken with a sufficiently high sampling rate, the handling of the raw measurement data is cumbersome which motivates to reduce its amount in a downsampling process. For this purpose, the present paper presents a method to process the raw measurement data in a way that information on losses is preserved with a reasonable precision. A case study highlights the impact of the downsampling factor and the current ripple on the estimation error. As a result, the online applicable method can be recommended for the downsampling of measurement data prior to its transfer and storage.
