A Passive Optical Sensor with Wide Measurement Range for Magnetic Field Perception
As digitalization and intelligence of power system advance leap by bounds, the demand of massive deployment of sensors for cooperative sensing and accurate measure have emerged. However, the existing electrical sensors are constrained accounts for the substandard requirements of low carbon environment, the complicated power supply and the limited terminal size. Passive detection of magnetic field, which combines magnetostrictive materials and optical sensing technology, is a feasible strategy to address the issue of limited battery lifetime and monitor the electromagnetic status. Thus, we present a fiber optic magnetic field sensor (MFS) operate on the principle of Fabry-Perot (F-P) interference. The results show that the high sensitivity and wider measurement range from 0 to 100 mT could be obtained. The proposed MFS with passive, anti-electromagnetic interference characteristics is a developing trend and future direction to realize panoptic perception of smart grids.
