Wide Voltage Range Nonisolated Transformerless Buck-Boost DC-DC Converter

The performance analysis of a novel transformerless buck-boost DC-DC converter with a wide conversion ratio is presented in this paper. The proposed converter requires a lower duty-ratio and fewer components to induce high voltage gain compared with its existing competitors. Moreover, it has reduced voltage stress across its semiconductor devices at the same input-output conditions. The operating principle, voltage regulation, design, power loss analyses and efficiency of the proposed converter have been thoroughly demonstrated theoretically and verified in the PLECS simulation. Finally, the performance of the proposed converter shows that it is suitable for many industrial applications like LED drivers, fuel-cell and PV systems.
