Object Tracking Spherical Underwater Sensing Robot

Underwater robots are vital for marine applications like environmental monitoring and ocean exploration. As technology advances, there’s a growing need for better data collection methods to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and autonomy of these robots. This paper presents a new spherical underwater robot designed for low-power operation, long-range wireless communication, and six-axis control for targeted ocean exploration. The primary focus is on collecting water quality data to enhance marine life. The spherical design, without thrusters, uses reaction wheels for movement, enabling longer maintenance-free operation. Initial tests will evaluate its ability to collect data at various depths using a buoyancy engine. Sensors include GPS, IMU, temperature, turbidity, and pressure sensors, along with a camera for object tracking. The goal is to create a low-power, cost-effective aquatic sensing device for researchers and environmentalists.
