MBSE for Contingency Planning for Cellular Networks with OPM
Cellular Networks are vulnerable to service disruptions due to natural or man-made disasters. Several research efforts have been proposed focusing on contingency management to ensure the provision of necessary communication services following a disaster. However, these efforts had generally lacked a digital engineering approach that emphasizes model based engineering to validate strategies in providing uninterrupted communication services. To address these existing challenges effectively, there is a critical need for developing a communication contingency management framework that not only maintains uninterrupted communication service in disaster-prone areas but also employs a model-based engineering approach to validate resilience and correctness of such a framework. This research paper aims to design a Model Based Approach using OPM (Object Process Methodology), for designing a structured and verifiable communication framework, DERIVE (Digital Engineering for Resilience with Integration of Verifiable Evidence) for cellular networks. The DERIVE, an architecture driven framework, elaborates upon conceptual and architectural modeling in developing a mutual consensus amongst collaborators (cellular operators) for sharing the load of the affected node (mobile tower) for a diverse set of cellular architectures.
