A Wide Range Resonant-Based Dual-Active-Bridge Converter for Universal DC Charger in E-mobility Applications

This paper presents a performance analysis of a novel resonant-based dual-active-bridge (DAB) DC-DC converter that possesses a broader conversion ratio which can serve as a universal charger for electromobility applications. Unlike most similar topologies, the proposed converter needs no additional stage converter. By reconfiguring resonant tanks to function alone or in combination, three operating modes with scaled power or voltage gains are possible. Irrespective of the configuration, the constituent resonant frequency remains the same, this characteristic simplifies the process of designing magnetic components. Theoretical demonstrations and PLECS simulation verifications have been conducted on the operating principle, voltage regulation, design, power loss analyses, and efficiency of the proposed converter.
