ZETA Based DC-Link Current Source
Because of the recently grown relevance of the current source inverter technology, innovative supply strategies are becoming more important. The use of GaN transistors makes CSIs a good alternative to VSIs in the low power range. The many advantages also show great potential for use in mobile low power traction drive systems. The challenge here, is the necessary adaptation to the power supply, which typically consists of a battery. The required DC-DC stage needs to transfer an input voltage to an output current, and due to the traction application, with bidirectional power flow. This paper discusses existing possibilities of recent research and presents a novel circuit topology based on the ZETA converter. The proposed circuit is specifically designed for the operation of the DC-link and utilizes coupled inductances to use as many synergies as possible. This paper contains an analysis of the proposed topology and a simple control strategy for the output current to generate simulation results, which will be verified with an experiment.
