Detailed simulation and energy management of the trains in the new proposed Green Line in Jerusalem

We have modelled in great detail the track and the train for the already under construction green line in the light rail system in the Jerusalem LRT Network (J-Net) in Israel. We have included many technical and operational constraints, while also rigorously formulating a mathematical optimization problem describing the operation of the railway. Our model can include several objective functions, considering different driving strategies as well as cost or time minimization. The results obtained are illustrative and can inform railway operators when making important operational and strategic decisions.

Abstract

We have modelled in great detail the track and the train for the already under construction green line in the light rail system in the Jerusalem LRT Network (J-Net) in Israel. We have included many technical and operational constraints, while also rigorously formulating a mathematical optimization problem describing the operation of the railway. Our model can include several objective functions, considering different driving strategies as well as cost or time minimization. The results obtained are illustrative and can inform railway operators when making important operational and strategic decisions.
