Analysis of the State of Polarization at the Output of an Imperfect Faraday Rotator Mirror
In this paper, we analyze the polarization state transformations performed by imperfect Faraday rotator mirrors. By modeling the system with arbitrary birefringence in the connecting fiber, we derive the possible output polarization states. Leveraging Jones matrices, complex polarization variables, and Poincare sphere representations, we achieve a comprehensive understanding of the polarization transformations induced by imperfect Faraday rotator mirrors. These results are critical for optimizing fiber-optic systems that depend on precise polarization control and for developing robust testing methodologies to ensure reliable system performance.
