Performance Analysis of a Communication Interface for Control and Data Visualization of Power Converters
This study investigates communication interfaces and protocols in computer networking within embedded systems, employing modern hardware. It focuses on comparing the two most commonly used protocols, UDP and TCP. The system setup includes a Xilinx based System on a Chip and a host-PC. The findings reveal that in modern embedded systems, reliable protocols like TCP offer an overall superior solution with no significant throughput reduction. TCP achieves maximum link utilization and provides sufficient real-time performance, while mitigating certain drawbacks of unreliable protocols, such as data loss.
