Signal Distortions in Switched Mode Power Amplifiers
The causes of signal distortions are given and observed when using switched-mode power amplifiers (PA) for amplifying signals with high PAPR. Distortion causes in RF and envelope PAs are given. For example, in RF PA distortions are mostly caused by the output network and time characteristics of the transistor. For L. Kahn schematic, the envelope PA distortion estimation of AM-AM characteristic based on transistors’ non-ideal time characteristics is represented. The parameters mostly responsible for distortions appearance are determined.
