Optimization of PMSM Sensorless Control based on EKF for Electric Vehicle Applications
In this work, enhancing an electric vehicle’s Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive is proposed in the possibility of a speed sensor malfunction. Firstly, we introduce the powertrain structure and the Field Oriented Control (FOC) using a speed sensor before presenting the sensorless control with the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) observer. The second part focuses on applying Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) techniques to the EKF and PI controller tuning. Finally, using the NEDC driving cycle to the proposed approaches is applied. a dynamic model of a Bolloré Bluecar vehicle was employed to simulate the powertrain traction chain.
