Efficient Energy and Loss Management Control Strategy for a Hybrid e-Racing Vehicle
This work describes the design and control strategy of an electric vehicle equipped with a battery pack and a supercapacitor, which scored second place in the eighth edition of the IEEE VTS Motor Vehicles challenge. Other than selecting the number of SiC-MOSFET modules to be connected in parallel for each converter leg in the vehicle, challenge contenders had to develop a strategy that regulates the current flowing through the main drive inverter and distributes the power request between the battery and the supercapacitor to optimize specific performance metrics. Simulation results in several driving cycles demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed solution.
