Integration of the fuel cell degradation in a 0D/1D vehicle system model in GT-SUITE
Hydrogen fuel cells are a solution to reduce pollutant emissions and greenhouse gases in the automotive industry. Fuel cell modeling is necessary for design, development purposes and achieve the desired levels of durability. Even though a lot of advancement have been made in the electrochemical modeling of fuel cells, improvements need to be made on the degradation models. At Symbio, a degradation model coupled to a well calibrated Butler-Volmer electrochemical model has been developed and tested to assess the impact of fuel cell ageing on its performance. With this model, the fuel cell efficiency loss can be quantified as well as the overconsumption of the system ancillaries.
