A Modified Deadbeat Predictive Current Control with Improved Dynamic Performance under Insufficient Voltage Margin for IPMSM

This paper proposes a modified deadbeat predictive current control (DPCC) method with improved dynamic performance under insufficient voltage margin conditions for interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs). When command currents cannot be tracked within two control periods due to voltage limitations, the proposed method extends the prediction horizon to encompass the entire dynamic process and derives the control equations based on an exact discretized motor model. Additionally, the motor model is further incrementalized to eliminate the need for rotor flux linkage. Simulation results demonstrate that the dynamic performance of both current and torque can be improved by the proposed method compared to the conventional minimum-phase-error voltage limiting strategy.
