Electric Vehicles as Flexibility Providers for the Electric Distribution Grid: Main Challenges, Opportunities, and Trends
The study examines the potential for electric vehicles (EVs) to serve as sources of flexibility for the electric distribution grid. The main challenges in this field relate to the building of infrastructure, grid integration, and regulatory frameworks. However, there are significant opportunities for incorporating EVs into the power grid, such as increased utilization of renewable energy sources, flexibility services, and enhanced grid stability. The future advancements of the electric distribution system seem to depend significantly on the growing popularity of electric vehicles. This work aims to provide a comprehensive examination of the opportunities, challenges, and trends associated with grid interaction and electric mobility, with the goal of enhancing our understanding of the future landscape in this field.
