Analysis and Implementation of a Silicon Carbide-Based Three-Phase Current Source Inverter
This paper integrates silicon carbide technology into a current source inverter, with the aim to explore the feasibility of using this topology in motor drives. The current source inverter produces smooth and quasi-sinusoidal output voltage waveforms. Furthermore, the use of silicon carbide devices leads to a significant reduction in conduction losses compared to silicon-based solutions, resulting in improved efficiency of the current source inverter. The main aim of this paper is to present the operational principle of this power converter, its modelling in a circuit-based simulation platform, and the experimental analysis conducted on a current source inverter equipped with 1200V 75A devices.
