Modeling of Dual-Stator Brushless Doubly-Fed Induction Machine With Staggered Dual Cage Rotor for Shaft Power Generation

This article focuses on complex vector modeling, the derivation of the dynamic and steady-state d–q-reference-frame equations, and the establishment of the equivalent circuit of the dual-stator brushless doubly-fed induction machine with a staggered dual cage rotor. According to the topology and the special interconnection rule of the staggered dual cage rotor, the reverse-sequence stator current vector, the reverse-sequence rotor current vector, and the reverse-sequence rotor flux linkage vector are defined and used for the complex vector modeling. The transformation relation between the positive-sequence and reverse-sequence space vectors is further deduced and utilized to establish the d–q-reference-frame equivalent circuit. Based on the derived vector model, a controller with the inner current loop and outer power loop is constructed to predict the performance of the machine. Finally, the experimental validation is carried out to compare the results of the simulation, hence, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed model.
