Leveraging digital technologies for health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management in industrial operations
The integration of digital technologies into Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management has revolutionized industrial operations, offering new opportunities for improving safety outcomes and mitigating risks. This review explores the role of cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), and predictive analytics in enhancing HSE management. These tools provide real-time data, enable predictive risk analysis, and facilitate proactive safety measures, resulting in reduced accidents, improved compliance, and optimized operational efficiency. However, the adoption of digital HSE solutions presents challenges, including data security concerns, integration issues with legacy systems, and resistance from employees and management. This paper addresses these challenges and offers key recommendations for successful implementation, including prioritizing cybersecurity, ensuring system compatibility, fostering employee engagement, and collaborating with regulatory bodies. Ultimately, digital technologies present significant opportunities to advance industrial safety and sustainability in HSE management.
