Psychological Intervention Strategies for Parents of Sexually Abused Children: A Case Study from Burundi
In Burundi, child sexual abuse is a reality, but stigma, a lack of resources, and traditional beliefs frequently impede effective support for impacted families. This study investigated psychological intervention strategies for parents of sexually abused children in Burundi. Three cases were analysed using a case study approach to understand the emotional and social challenges parents face and the effectiveness of interventions such as psycho-education and community support programs. The findings highlighted the critical role of mental health professionals and community engagement in addressing stigma, fostering resilience, and supporting recovery. Recommendations emphasised collaborative efforts to ensure holistic care for affected families.
