140 Oxidative stress is involved in the pathogenesis of dermatomyositis
Dermatomyositis (DM) constitutes an autoimmune disorder correlated with heightened type I interferon signaling within the skeletal muscle and skin. Cytokines and oxidative stress play pivotal roles in the pathophysiology of DM, with increasing evidence indicating that reactive oxygen species (ROS) are pivotal in inducing skeletal muscle debility in DM. Nevertheless, due to their inherent instability, direct detection of ROS poses challenges. The diacron-reactive oxygen metabolites (d-ROMs) assay identifies hydroperoxides (ROOH), which exhibit notable stability even in archived specimens.
