A unique case of steroid-resistant, giant cellulitis-like Sweet syndrome mimicking alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency-associated panniculitis: successful treatment with dapsone
We reported a unique case of giant cellulitis-like Sweet syndrome with concurrent subcutaneous involvement, demonstrating atypical clinicopathological features as well as a protracted, steroid-refractory course. Intriguingly, transient alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT) depletion was recorded at the time of worsening (despite a normal SERPINA1 genotype), possibly explaining some of the observed cutaneous changes clinically mimicking AAT deficiency-associated panniculitis.
