IOT Based Energy Efficient Smart Street Lighting Technique with Air Quality Monitoring

Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for energy-saving streetlights and air quality monitoring are the focus of the planned effort. The correct way to reduce electrical power waste, according to this research, is to turn off street lights first thing in the morning once there is enough light on the roadways, and to turn them back on just before evening. There is also no longer any need to manually control the lighting system. In this paper, two types of sensors are utilized: photoelectric sensors for motion detection and light-dependent resistor (LDR) sensors for day/night indication. An LDR sensor acts as a switch in an automatic street lighting system, which is a simple yet powerful concept. As a result, the lights are turned off the moment the sensor detects daylight. Because the physically operated streetlamps are now left on even after the sun comes up and turned on again just before dusk, this system also reduces energy use. In addition, authorities can learn about environmental factors including temperature and humidity as well as the identification of gas leaks (such as those involving smoking, alcohol, or LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas)) through real-time online air quality monitoring. Everyone within the system's range can get the temperature and humidity values via their smartphones or computers thanks to the internet connectivity. When its volume goes over a certain safe limit set for a certain application, a GSM module sends a text message to the appropriate people. The air quality metrics and LDR value are uploaded to the Thing speak server.
