Control of WRIG Based WECS for Grid Integration
This paper presents a transformer-less back to back connected voltage source converter(VSC) configuration of wound rotor induction generator(WRIG) for wind energy conversion system(WECS). The delivery of power to grid from rotor side at same voltage as that of grid is ensured usually by the transformer. A bidirectional DC-DC converter(BDC) is used to replace transformer by providing sufficient magnitude of DC link voltage to the grid side converter(GSC) for grid synchronisation. Simulation results supplement implementation of BDC in between rotor side converter(RSC) an GSC.
