Decision-Making Process Reengineering and Digital Transformation Success Story: A Case Study from Bank Indonesia

The Central Bank is the sole authority responsible for issuing monetary policies, with the goal of maintaining stable inflation rates, stable currency exchange rates, and promoting economic growth. Research indicates a correlation between the timeliness of the Central Bank's internal decision-making processes and the quality of the monetary policies issued. This paper explores how Business Process Reengineering (BPR), supported by digital transformation in Bank Indonesia, can significantly enhance the efficiency and transparency of Central Bank decision-making processes with the introduction of a specialized application called Digital Workplace. To ensure a successful and inclusive transformation, commitment starting from technical level to top leadership is one critical success factor that needs to be achieved. A special focus was also put on accommodating the user needs at each step of the reengineering process, with the goals of streamlining operations, accelerate decision-making, and ultimately improve the quality and effectiveness of monetary policies.
