Design & Analysis of Adaptive Noise Equalizer for EV Charging Infrastructure Integrated PV Systems
This article introduces a novel control algorithm for grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) powering EV batteries. The technology utilizes an adaptive noise equalizer (ANE) to charge electric vehicle (EV) batteries during daylight hours while improving power quality. The Electric Vehicle (EV) and Battery Energy Storage (BES) are linked together using a bidirectional buck-boost converter at the direct current (dc) link. The electric vehicle (EV) draws power from the solar array during daylight hours. When there is no sunlight or the level of irradiance is below a certain level, the EV supplies power to the grid. The control algorithm compensates for harmonic current while charging and discharging the EV battery. Additionally, it ensures that the overall harmonics distortion of the grid currents is limited to less than 5%, as recommended by the IEEE-519 standard. The VSC serves the multifunctional purpose of reactive power compensation and maintaining unity power factor operation in different G2V and V2G modes. The adaptive noise equalizer is implemented to reduce the harmonics injected into the source current by nonlinear load and maintain the sinusoidal currents. The results verify the performance of EV charging infrastructure integrated PV systems under different steady state and dynamic conditions under G2V and V2G modes.
