Power Quality Enhancement Using Cuk Modified Bridgeless Rectifier with Dual Output for Grid Fed Low Power SRM Drive

This paper is focused on design of a single-phase totem pole bridgeless converter with a dual output (SPTPBLDO) AC-DC converter, derived from Cuk-SEPIC bridgeless configuration, used for high voltage low power (HVLP) grid fed switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive. A rectifier with fewer components in the PFC converter operation leads to reduced conduction losses, making it ideal for use in low-cost, low-power SRM drive. For SRM drive wide-range speed control, DC link voltage of dual output PFC converter is varied by selecting the discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) operation of SPTPBLDO converter. SPTPBLDO converter effectively regulates DC link voltage while also preserving power quality on supply side as the international IEEE/IEC standards. Performance of presented converter for a 450 W SRM drive is validated through MATLAB Simulink. Simulation results have assured compliance of design of low-cost converter-fed SRM drive.
