Experience of Flexible Operations in Power System as a System Operator in Western Region of India

This paper highlights the experience of Flexible operations in power system as a system operator in Western Region of India. System operator plays a pivotal role in maintaining Load-generation balance so as to ensure a secure, reliable and economic grid operation. Electricity Demand is variable in nature and exact delivery of electricity is just a coincidence. Similarly, with the integration of vast Renewable Energy capacity, generation variability is also increasing. In this paper, the overview of seasonal variation of various sources of generation is presented along with the changing pattern of state wise demand in Western Region of India.
