Vibration Suppression Enhancement With Adjustable Gain in Absence of Resonance Knowledge for a Lightly Damped System

For lightly damped systems, detrimental vibration, and even instability, occur when their flexible dynamical behaviors approach the required closed-loop bandwidth. This article develops a vibration suppression approach with adjustable gain (VSAG) in the absence of resonance knowledge to enhance vibration suppression performance in terms of various sensitivity functions. The transfer function and state space-based VSAG implementations are deduced in detail. Then, the tuning guideline on adjustable gain is analyzed via the realizable control loop with transfer function-based VSAG. The closed-loop stability and convergence are investigated via the Lyapunov criterion. The validity and superiority of the proposed method are demonstrated through simulations and experiments on a two-mass-spring (TMS) prototype system.
