Availability of Total Intravenous Anesthesia for Obstetric Surgery: A Survey of UK Practice
( Eur J Anaesthesiol. 2024;41(2):146–152. doi: 10.1097/EJA.0000000000001855) Though general anesthesia (GA) is used in only a small percentage of cesarean deliveries (CD), the majority of these instances use a rapid induction with an inhalation agent for maintenance. A newer technique that is rising in popularity is total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA), as it has less of an environmental impact. This article is a letter to the editor that details a survey-based study about the current practice of TIVA in obstetric surgery as well as its availability and barriers to inclusion in routine practice.
