Modifiers of Asphalt Concrete Mixtures for Road Pavements
Modified asphalt concrete is considered, focusing on its significance in Kazakhstan's road infrastructure and the factors influencing its strength properties. It discusses various types of asphalt concrete and their compositions, highlighting the role of bitumen as the main binding material. Emphasis is placed on asphalt modifiers, including plasticizers, rubber additives, and polymer fibers, with a particular focus on rubber additives. The paper also discusses the use of asphalt concrete in road construction, noting the shift towards crushed stone-mastic and porous coarse-grained asphalt concrete. Additionally, it presents experimental results on the use of modifiers such as plastic, polymers, and activated rubber crumb, demonstrating improvements in crack resistance, plasticity, and rutting resistance of asphalt concrete. Overall, the study underscores the importance of asphalt concrete in ensuring safer and more efficient traffic flow in Kazakhstan's road network.
