CAN THE ESTROGEN LEVEL ON THE DAY OF HCG TRIGGER, TYPE OF OVARIAN STIMULATION AND PATIENT DEMOGRAPHIC DATA PREDICT THE NUMBER OF M2 OOCYTES RETRIEVED IN IVF CYCLES?

Background: This study was conducted to explore the impact of various factors like estrogen levels on day of HCG trigger, type of IVF cycle, dose of gonadotropin along with patient characteristics like age and BMI on number of M2 oocytes retrieved. Materials And Methods: Data from Indore Infertility Clinic from October 2023 to December 2023 was utilized. Statistical analyses were performed using MedCalc version 22 (MedCalc Software Ltd, 2024). Results: It was noted that mean M2 count was lower for those with lower E2 levels, although the result could not reach statistical significance (12.8 vs 17.77,DF = 5.69,95% CI= -4.5271 to 15.9071,p = 0.2582).On performing linear regression analysis, there was a weak direct relationship between E2 levels and M2 count (R= 0.2362, P= 0.092). On analysing combined effect of E2 levels and total gonadotropin dose on M2 count, results of the multiple linear regression indicated that there 2 2 was a weak collective non-significant effect between the E2,gonadotropin dose, and M2 count (p = .303,R = 0.06,R adj = 0.01).Mean M2 count for antagonist protocol was 15.84 as compared to 11 for those who received long agonist protocol (p= 0.2432,95% CI = -13.15 to 3.47).Increasing age was found to have a weak inverse relationship with M2 oocyte count and the result was statistically significant (p = 0.009). On analysing effect of BMI on M2 oocyte count, it was found that 2 there is a weak inverse relationship between increasing BMI and M2 count. R = 0.1471, p = .288; R= -0.3835 p = 0.097. Conclusion:while this study found a weak positive correlation between E2 levels and M2 oocyte count, the relationship was not statistically significant. Factors such as age and BMI also play crucial roles in influencing the ovarian response during IVF. Larger, more robust studies are required to fully elucidate the complex interplay between E2 levels and M2 oocyte yield, and to better understand the impact of oestradiol on oocyte quality as well as quantity.
