A COMPARITIVE STUDY OF FETO - MATERNAL OUTCOME OF BOOKED VS UN-BOOKED CASES OF PLACENTA PREVIA WHO UNDERWENT CESAREAN DELIVERY IN A TERTIARY HOSPITAL

Objectives: This study aims to compare & determine if there is a significant difference in maternal and neonatal outcomes of booked & un-booked cases of placenta previa, who underwent cesarean delivery in Government Hospital, Guntur, tertiary referral center.Material And Methods:This prospective study including 50 singleton pregnant women who were diagnosed with Placenta Previa (PP) and admitted in Government Hospital(GGH),Guntur from February 2023 to January 2024. Demographic and clinical characteristics, maternal and neonatal outcomes were recorded. Ethics approval was obtained from institutional ethics committee. Results:Among 50 patients meeting the inclusion criteria,35 and 15 patients come under BCD & UCD categories respectively. The risks of maternal morbidity like anemia, blood and component transfusion, infections, necessity of additional procedures, ICU admissions & maternal deaths are more in UCD group compared to BCD. BCD has better neonatal outcomes in terms of birth weight, APGAR score & NICU admissions. Conclusions: Booking of PP complicating pregnancies play an important role in determining maternal & fetal outcome.PP complicating pregnancies should be referred to a tertiary center for delivery.
