A Risk-based Approach to PPE. Advantages
The results of research obtained during the implementation of the scientific and technological progress on the topic: «Working Conditions and Occupational Risks: Classification, Categories, and Grouping Criteria in the Transition to the «Green Economy» (IRN BR22182667)» RSE on REM «RRIOSH» MLSSP of the Republic of Kazakhstan established the feasibility of abandoning the standard list norms for issuing personal protective equipment (PPE). Based on this, there is a need for a scientific justification for the application of a new, so-called risk-based approach (RBA), which has a fundamentally different paradigm. The RBA before issuing PPE firstly carries out the procedure for assessing the impact of harmful and dangerous factors (HDF) on the body of workers, and the associated occupational risks (ОR), then only proceeds to the stage of choosing PPE purposefully providing protection. The article is devoted to the advantages of this new approach, aimed at safe and highly efficient work, the prediction of the possible onset of certain occupational diseases (OD), injuries in case of non-use of relevant protection.
