AN OBSERVATIONAL STUDY OF ARTERIAL THROMBOTIC STATE IN COVID -19
Introduction - Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) affecting predominantly lungs. Covid-19 patients show increased coagulopathy as time progresses. Hypercoagulability is an important hallmark of inammation in COVID-19. Arterial thrombotic states such as myocardial infarction, peripheral vascular disease and stroke were noticed signicantly in COVID-19 patients. Materials And Methods- Descriptive observational retrospective study was done on total 151 patients admitted under medicine department .All patients above 18 years with no comorbidities included in present study. Patient details regarding age,sex , inammatory markers and radiological investigations noted. Results – Most of patients of arterial thrombosis were in age group of 49 to 68 years of age. Arterial thrombosis was present in 25.83 % of patients. 79.48 % of patients had arterial thrombosis in initial 15 days of hospitalisation.Levels of inammatory markers like D-dimer,IL-6 and CRP were signicantly elevated in patients of arterial thrombosis with COVID- 19 . Conclusion- COVID- 19 patients has hypercoagulation states induced by viral inammation leading to arterial thrombosis.Early identication of thrombosis is important as early as possible to decrease morbidity and mortality in COVID 19 patients.
