The Assessment of Irrigation System for Chili Pepper (Capsicum annuum) Using Remote Sensing Technique-based on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Equipped with Multiple Sensors
Recent climate change and rapid population growth have led to increased food demand, necessitating improved agricultural productivity and efficient water use.To address these challenges, smart irrigation systems based on advanced agricultural technologies are essential. However, the adoption of smart farming technology in Korea is low due to a lack of trust among farmers, highlighting the need for objective methods to evaluate irrigation systems easily. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of a soil moisture sensor-based automatic irrigation system for chili peppers using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based remote sensing technology.A UAV equipped with RGB, multispectral, and thermal infrared sensors was employed to monitor the phenotypic traits of chili peppers across non-irrigated (No-Irr), convention irrigated by farm (Farm-Irr), and sensor-based automatically irrigated (Sensor-Irr) plots. The analysis conducted by comparing phenotypic differences between No-Irr and Sensor-Irr to identify appropriate indicators
