A Study on the Art Therapy Value of Cheoyongmu from the Psychological Perspective of Jung's Analysis

The purpose of this study is to explore the therapeutic value of art therapy implicit in Jung's analytical psychology perspective and to suggest a psychotherapeutic direction that fits the Korean context.
Analytical psychology divides the human psyche into conscious and unconscious; the psyche includes emotions, thoughts, and behaviors; it plays a role in adapting to the social environment; and self-realization is possible through the interaction of the two consciousnesses.
In analytic psychology, the goal of therapy is to realize the meaning of the purpose of one's symptoms. The Cheyoungmu is one of a world intangible heritage of humanity with a long history, tradition, and philosophical thought, and it is our unique psychotherapeutic medium that can bring out and treat the personality archetypes of our collective unconscious. Based on the symbolism of the inherent deity of Cheoryongmu, we can anthropomorphize it and connect its therapeutic value. Through the group dance of Obang Cheoryongmu, we can meet our true self by integrating interaction and consciousness of the unconscious. Therefore, as a medium of art psychotherapy that suits the uniqueness of Koreans, it can find internal and external suffering problems and serve as a tool that can provide a direction for true self-realization.
