The influence of Active Seniors' Motivation for Participation in Group Exercise (GX) on Successful Aging
This study explores the impact of Active Seniors' motivations for participating in group exercise (GX) on successful aging. As Korea is rapidly transitioning to a super-aged society, the role of physical activity among older adults is becoming increasingly important. To address the research objectives, men and women in their 50s and 60s residing in the Seoul and Gyeonggi metropolitan areas were selected as samples. A total of 551 questionnaires were administered and analyzed using SPSS 24.0, which integrates frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The results of the study revealed two major insights. First, the frequency of participation in GX had a positive effect on successful aging, but the duration and intensity of exercise were not significant factors. Second, motivations for GX, including physical health, enjoyment, challenge, appearance, and social factors, were identified as positive contributing factors to successful aging. These results emphasize that GX plays an important role in promoting the physical, psychological, and social well-being of active seniors, and suggest potential directions for developing policies and programs to promote successful aging in the older population.
